, 3 days

About this training

The peripheral blood film (PBF) is a laboratory test that involves microscopic examination of blood smeared on a slide for characterization of various blood cells morphology as well as their distribution. As basic as it is, PBF is invaluable in the diagnosis and monitoring of various hematological conditions.

Despite advances in hematology automation and the application of molecular techniques, PBF has remained a very critical yet affordable diagnostic test in the identification of Leukemia, Sickle Cells Disease, Thalassaemia, polycythaemia, among others.

Therefore, proficiency in PBF slides preparation, staining, manual differential counting, and blood cells morphology reporting is crucial in the realization of reliable PBF results.
